Towards a Human Rights Act for WA Conference 2021
In December 2021 Western Australia for a Human Rights Act and Curtin University jointly hosted a conference called Towards a Human Rights Act for WA. The opening address was delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar AO with introductory remarks from Dr Hannah McGlade. Presentations throughout the day included Alice Barter speaking on the Raise the Age campaign, Chloe Wood and Georgia Kalyniuk presenting on the Western Australia for a Human Rights Act campaign, an interactive session on the dialogue model of human rights legislation led by the Honourable Kevin Bell AM QC and Gregory McIntyre SC, a presentation on human rights remedies delivered by Jackie Mapulanga-Hulston, and a panel discussion chaired by Anna Copeland on contemporary human rights issues featuring Stephanie Monck, Rahila Haidari and Charlotte Glance.
